Overview of role:
We are looking for an experienced Marketing Professional with at least three to five years’ experience to lead on facilitating the development and high impact delivery of HOPE Cape Town’s marketing and communications strategy in South Africa and provide strategic support to the development of the brand and social media strategy. The goal is to use all forms of media as a vehicle to advance our organisational communication, raise awareness of our work in the promotion of community development and attract a growing number of local supporters to HOPE Cape Town. You will work closely with our multinational partners and need strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work and collaborate with diverse personalities, roles, and backgrounds. Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous as would an understanding of creative workflows and processes within a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is a creative, driven and experienced individual who has a passion for community outreach work and a strong willingness to contribute towards positive impact in HOPE Cape Town. The successful candidate will be able to develop and implement marketing activities and campaigns to enhance and build awareness for HOPE Cape Town and its programmes which focus on the promotion of community development. Positioning the HOPE Cape Town brand through a wide range of local Marketing and Advertising activities is critical in this role and must speak to the organisation’s fundamental purpose while supporting fundraising initiatives.
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator reports to the Team Leader, is a member of the Marketing Committee and works closely with the Back Office team.
He/ she will be responsible for the following:
1. Constant screening of social media, published media, news reports and advertisements with a view to finding opportunities to connect to an appropriate individual or group.
2. Research trends, community climate, the social and political climate to ensure needs and issues are proactively identified in order to align HOPE Cape Town’s vision, goals and activities to the current environment.
3. Coordinate online and social media content development and implementation.
* Manage and post Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the HOPE Cape Town website
* Quarterly newsletter and Mailchimp database
4. Oversee communication produced by HOPE Cape Town for media and public release and monitor the effectiveness.
5. Write and submit press releases, news for radio, tv, magazine articles and editorials on behalf of the chairperson or the organisation or the medical and other professionals.
6. Establish new and maintain existing platforms to communicate and advocate the HOPE Cape Town vision to the local South African market e.g.
* World AIDS Day and other days of remembrance messages
* Engage with HOPE Brand Ambassadors (Sports & Media personalities)
* Utilise MySchool Card scheme etc.
7. Support the development and production of the Annual Report and other publications.
* Contribute with commentary, visuals, graphics
8. Support and coordinate all media relations for organizational activities.
* Maintain and add to media database
9. Assist in the development of the HOPE Cape Town marketing plan and its implementation.

10. Safeguard the HOPE Cape Town brand eg on:
* Branded memorabilia, gifts for visitors
* Branded uniforms and clothing
* Posters, booklets, pamphlets and in communication
* Materials for HOPE Cape Town support organisations internationally
11. Facilitate product development for the organisation.
12. Assist and support events and public functions like The Ball of HOPE, Mandela Day, Outings.
